Mansfield
Impound Gets Shoeing Stock By Patty Livingston
I recently received an email from George Bailey, one of the Mansfield impound volunteers, who mentioned the need for a shoeing stock at the impound. All of the Draft horses were located at the Mansfield impound and several of them had severe abscesses in their feet, which required doctoring several times a day. George furnished me with pictures and prices and even offered to pay for a portion of the stock, as well as driving to South Carolina to get it, if GERL would pay the bulk of the cost. The GERL Board immediately approved the purchase and George and Willie Moore (another wonderful Mansfield volunteer) took off for SC to pick it up. Heres a picture of the new stock with Dwarf trying it out. The stock will also be used for vetting the impounded horses.
GERL "Feed a Horse" Program with GDA
GERL sponsors starved and neglected horses impounded by the Georgia Department of Agriculture! Meet Gump, a sorrel stallion that was sponsored by
the GERL while he recovered at the GDA impound.

You can make a difference by donating to the GERL
"Feed a
Horse" program. On average it costs the GDA about $150/month
to rehabilitate one horse. You can make a tax deductable
donation through the GERL for this worthy program. All funds
collected under the "Feed a Horse" program will go directly
for feed and hay for impounded horses.
